Career: - 1981 became the European Cadet Champion and was elected as the best center in the championship
- 1982 became the World champion with USSR national team
- In 1981-1989 played in Kaunas ZALGIRIS team (three times became USSR champion in 1985, 1986, 1987)
- 1981 debut in USSR championship with Kaunas ZALGIRIS team
- 1982 became the World champion with the SSRS national team
- 1983 3rd place at the European Championship
- 1984 and 1985 Arvydas Sabonis was recognized as the best basketball player of the Year
- 1985 became the European champion with USSR national team in Stuttgart. He was elected as the best player tournament
